Crew looking for boats / Re: Crew available with racing experience
« Last post by Bruno Revive on September 21, 2014, 08:26:26 PM »
We, REVIVE, a positive competitive crew sail out of Brighton Marina every Sunday, throughout the winter.
We have done Fastnet 2011 and 2013 and are looking forward to do Fastnet 2015.
Cowes week 2014: 8th out of 28th
Our crewlist is kinda thin at the moment so we are looking for regulars.

Sunday 28/09, 11.00 start: We have a small Offshore (30miles) organized by BMYC and we need a few extra able bodies for that.
07882233519 is my number

Crew looking for boats / Crew available with racing experience
« Last post by RJablonski on September 18, 2014, 11:56:42 PM »
Hello,

I've done a lot of racing and cruising on the west coast of the United States for the last 7-8 years (San Diego, N Mexico, San Juans, Channel Islands). I just moved to London and am hoping to get involved in a bit of racing. I've worked trim and bow mostly, though am happy to serve anywhere. I'm just looking forward to being back on the water. Weekends are best, though I have a relatively flexible schedule.

Cheers,
Ryan

The Littlehampton Rally Weekend includes a fun and enjoyable race to Littlehampton that starts one of the most popular weekend rallies on the SYC calendar.     Warm Broccoli & Stilton Tart with Minted New Potatoes & Salad

Rallies at Sussex Yacht Club / Re: Pactolus Race & Rally
« Last post by Harnold on July 24, 2014, 12:14:57 PM »
Dear all,

We now have six boats for the Pactolus race this weekend: Plover; Ocean Dream; Devil's Advocate; Mavrick; Karsha and Tyke.

Low water on Friday is at 05.01 BST so we have decided to start the Pactolus race on Thursday evening, going out on the 10pm lock and starting as soon as possible after this once everyone is around the East mark. The race course is likely to be start when East bears 90 degrees, Meridian to port, finish outside of Fecamp but the exact course will be read out once everyone is assembled by East mark on Thursday evening. Laurence has volunteered to be race officer for the Pactolus and he will broadcast the course on channel 37.

On Saturday evening we have organised dinner for everyone at Le Progress restaurant in Fecamp at 6.30pm French time. If you would like to join please email me the number of places you would like me to confirm to the restaurant by no later than Wednesday evening.

Most boats will return to Shoreham on Sunday but others may continue along the French coast for the Pactolus rally. Please let me know if you are interested in continuing with the rally so that I can send out further information on this.

Regards,

Hazel

Crew looking for boats / Re: BEACH DREAMS & OPEN DAY SAILING INTEREST
« Last post by awheels68 on July 21, 2014, 07:37:40 PM »
Hello,

I am also a member with little experience in sailing. I was wondering if there was anywhere other than this forum where there might be a list of required crew -  on a notice board at the club for instance?

( That is not to say that there has been a shortage of opportunities so far. Far from it! )

Many thanks

Rallies at Sussex Yacht Club / Pactolus Race & Rally
« Last post by Harnold on July 16, 2014, 03:10:34 PM »
We now have five boats interested in the Pactolus race on Friday 25 July
and just need one more yacht to reach the minimum number required to
race. Once we arrive in Fecamp, we have arranged dinner on the Saturday
night at Le Progress.
Some yachts will return from Fecamp to Shoreham on Sunday 27th due to
work commitments, but for all those who are able to continue, the
Pactolus race will be followed by a week of rallying around Northern
France. Exact destinations will be decided nearer to the time depending
on weather and tides.
If you are interested in either the Pactolus race or rally or would like
further information about it please contact me on ukhazel@yahoo.co.uk.
If you haven't already done so please let me know as soon as possible
whether you would like to join the Pactolus race, rally or dinner at Le
Progress as we need to achieve the minimum number of six boats for the
Pactolus rally before 18th July.
Many thanks,
Hazel Arnold

Louise,

great to hear from you. There is a chance, weather permitting,  I can get you on a boat for Sunday 6 July but need to speak to a skipper that's on holiday until the end of the week. Leave it with me and I'll get back to you with some news as soon as I know more.

Best

Hi, I would be really interested in being Crew on a sunday. How much sailing experience do you need? I am half way through doing my competent crew certificate, have done one weekend just need to do another, and have signed up to go help with a boat that is sailing over to Cowes week, but really thats all the very little experience I have. I would love to learn more and go out on the boats more as I really have the bug now. Can you let me know if there is anything that I can sign up to.

Many thanks
Louise
